Have we got news for you!

The Date: New Year's Day night, Monday 1st January 2007!
The Venue: Springhead
The Event? Sons of the Desert Re-Union!

Yes a year to the day that the Sons of the Desert said goodbye to a packed Springhead, and it will be there that we will make our return.

The year seems to have flown by and it doesn’t seem like five minutes that we took an emotional exit.

The reunion started out as a bit of fun, but when we managed to get the bulk of the band around a table for the first time in ten months, it we obvious that we all wanted to do it at least one more time. And from the feedback we’ve had so far quite a lot of people agreed with us!

The only absentees at the meeting were trumpet player Tom who’s in Nottingham and guitarist Dave who’s slightly further a-field in Goa (that’s India, you know). We have however received confirmation of their commitment by e-mail.

We’ve been unable to track down last years keyboard player Tony Hutchinson who’s living and working somewhere in West Yorkshire (get in touch Tony if you read this). We have however been able to enlist the services of one of the best keyboard players in the business. Andy Piper played with the Sons for the first six years or so, and it will be great to have him back. He’s currently playing with ELO tribute band ‘Rockaria’ who are doing really well (check website, the audios are brilliant).

The rest of the line-up will be same as last year with possibly Sax player Rick Davis bulking out the brass section.

All we’ve got to do now is try and remember the songs!

It would be brilliant if we could pack the place out and have a really good night.

See you all there,

Steve Kerry
